(Best E Casino) - Brett Myers tries to snap his season-long funk this afternoon when the Philadelphia Phillies play the rubber match of their three- game series against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

Myers, Philadelphia's Opening Day starter, has struggled mightily all season and enters today's matchup having dropped his last two starts and seven of his last eight decisions. His latest setback came on Tuesday against the Florida Marlins, as he allowed five runs and seven hits - three home runs - in 5 1/3 innings, dropping him to 3-8 on the year, while raising his earned run average to 5.34.

The 27-year-old right-hander is 3-2 lifetime against the Cards with a 4.99 ERA in 10 games, eight of which have been starts.

St. Louis will counter with 24-year-old righty Mitchell Boggs, who will be making just the second start of his major league career. Boggs was victorious on Tuesday against Cincinnati, holding the Reds to a pair of runs and four hits in five innings.

After surrendering 20 runs in the opener of this set on Friday, St. Louis bounced back on Saturday, as Kyle Lohse shut down the Phillies potent lineup with eight solid innings in a 3-2 win.

Lohse (8-2) allowed just four hits and two runs against his former mates, including retiring the last 12 batters he faced. Ryan Franklin capped the brilliant pitching effort with a perfect final inning for his ninth save.

Adam Kennedy and Skip Schumaker each went 2-for-4 with Kennedy providing a two-run homer to snap the club's two-game slide.

Adam Eaton (2-4) took the loss despite hurling his fifth consecutive quality start, surrendering three runs on eight hits through 6 2/3 innings in halting the team's two-game winning streak. Eaton also accounted for half of Philly's four hits, while Pat Burrell slugged a two-run homer.

Philadelphia took six of nine in the series last year. That includes a 4-2 mark in St. Louis.
