Owings Mills, MD (Best E Casino) - Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden announced his retirement on Thursday, bringing an end to what will likely be a Hall of Fame career.

Ogden is retiring primarily due to a nagging toe injury. The UCLA product said at the end of the season that he was leaning towards retirement, but wanted to give his toe time to heal. When the condition did not improve, the decision was made to hang up the cleats on an illustrious career.

"It means a great deal to me," Ogden stated, surrounded by his family, team brass and a large contingent of past and present Ravens players. "It means that they appreciate what I brought to the organization. Football teams are like families, when one person leaves the family, it's good to see that the other members care."

The 33-year-old appeared in just 11 games last season, the fewest in his 12 NFL seasons, due primarily to a hyperextended big toe on his left foot suffered late in the 2006 season.

An 11-time Pro Bowl selection, Ogden was the Ravens' first-round pick and the fourth overall choice of the 1996 NFL Draft.

Ogden became the fourth likely Hall of Fame player to announce his retirement since the end of the 2007 season, joining Brett Favre, Warren Sapp and Michael Strahan.
