(Best E Casino) - Oliver Perez tries to bounce back from one of the worst starts of his career when the
New York Mets resume their four-game series with the
San Diego Padres at Petco Park.
Perez was hammered on Monday in San Francisco, as the Giants roughed him for six runs and five hits in just a third of an inning. Perez also walked two batters in the loss, dropping him to 4-4 on the season, while ballooning his earned run average to 5.70.
Over his last three starts Perez has surrendered 15 runs and 15 hits in 11 1/3 innings.
Perez, who started his career with the Padres in 2002, has faced his former team four times and is 1-3 against them with a 6.61 ERA.
San Diego will counter with right-hander Cha Seung Baek, who will be making his second start with the Padres since being acquired from Seattle. Baek started on Monday against the Chicago Cubs and was tagged with the loss, as he allowed four runs and nine hits in just 4 1/3 innings.
Baek, who has never faced the Mets, is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in two appearances with the Padres. He is 1-2 with a 5.60 ERA overall on the year.
After posting a win in the opener of this series, San Diego made it two straight against the Mets on Friday, as Randy Wolf threw seven innings of one- run ball in the Padres' 2-1 win.
Wolf (4-4) gave up seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts for the Padres, who have won three straight. Adrian Gonzalez and Kevin Kouzmanoff each had an RBI in the win.
Johan Santana (7-4) gave up two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits in six innings of work for the Mets, who have lost two in a row after winning seven of nine. David Wright drove in the lone run.
San Diego won four of six versus New York last year, taking two of three at home.
