(Best E Casino) - The
Chicago White Sox take aim at their fifth straight victory when they battle the
Minnesota Twins in the second matchup of a four- game set at U. S. Cellular Field.
The White Sox are hoping Mark Buehrle can reverse his fortunes of late and extend that streak. In his last 10 starts, Buehrle has had little success, winning just once, while losing six times.
The last time the left-hander was on the hill, the White Sox suffered a 4-3 loss to Tampa. The 29-year-old did not factor in the decision and surrendered only three runs on seven hits in six innings
Earlier this season, Buehrle was hammered by the Twins, allowing seven runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. Despite the poor performance the veteran pitcher has done well against Minnesota in his career, posting a 20-11 record with a 3.87 ERA.
Livan Hernandez will take the ball for Minnesota and will try to collect his first win in nearly a month. The last time the 33-year-old was victorious was back on May 12th when he defeated Boston, 7-3. Since then, Hernandez is 0-1 in four starts and is coming off a rough outing against the Yankees.
This past Tuesday, the right-hander was battered by the Bronx Bombers, allowing five runs on 13 hits in six innings. Despite the poor performance, Hernandez did not factor in the Twins' 6-5 win.
Earlier this season Hernandez made his first career start against the White Sox, and he was masterful, tossing a complete game, while limiting Chicago to just one run on nine hits.
Yesterday, Joe Crede recorded his seventh career 4-for-4 effort at the plate, as his two solo home runs along with Carlos Quentin's three-run blast, powered the White Sox to a 10-6 victory over the Twins.
Jermaine Dye also homered for the Sox, who have rattled off four straight victories after a three-game slide. Orlando Cabrera tallied three hits, while A.J. Pierzynski went 2- for-4 with two RBI and a run scored for the victors.
Javier Vazquez (6-4) was credited with the win, surviving four runs on nine hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings.
Minnesota's Nick Blackburn (4-4), who took a line drive off his face in his last outing, was saddled with the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits in four-plus innings of work.
Carlos Gomez, Alexi Casilla and Michael Cuddyer each homered for the Twins, who have dropped two in a row. Joe Mauer added three hits, including two doubles, in defeat.
So far the Twins and White Sox have battled eight times this season, and each team has won four games apiece.
