(Best E Casino) - The
New York Knicks try to sweep the season-series from the
Sacramento Kings this evening and snap a two-game losing streak in the process when the two teams hook up at the unfriendly confines of ARCO Arena.
New York, which topped the Kings on November 7 at Madison Square Garden, will be kicking off a four-game West Coast road trip tonight following a lifeless 92-86 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. Stephon Marbury scored 20 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Knicks attack.
Kurt Thomas had 16 points, while Tim Thomas and Shandon Anderson both had 10 for New York, which has dropped four of its last five.
Things got so bad for the Knicks that the crowd at MSG began chanting Keith Van Horn's name. Van Horn was dealt to Milwaukee as part of a three-team deal with the Atlanta Hawks that landed Tim Thomas and Nazr Mohammed in New York.
Thomas has been inconsistent in his three games with the Knicks, while Mohammed has totaled all of two points in 29 minutes.
The Knicks continued to play without guard Allan Houston, who has been sidelined since January 30 with a sore knee. Houston, who had originally hoped to be back right after the All-Star break, could return at some point during the trip.
New York has won seven of its last 11 on the road and is 10-16 away from home this season.
Sacramento comes into tonight's tilt riding a two-game winning streak after Peja Stojakovic scored a game-high 27 points and added eight rebounds to lead the Kings over the Toronto Raptors, 96-81, on Sunday at Air Canada Centre.
Mike Bibby contributed 21 points and five assists for Sacramento, which has won six of its last seven games.
After scoring a season-low 39 points in the first half, the Kings bounced back with 57 points after the intermission to pick up their third straight win over the Raptors.
Sacramento has won nine of its last 11 at home and is 24-4 at ARCO this season.
New York has won two of its last three matchups with the Kings, but has lost six straight and seven of its last eight in Sacramento.
