Philadelphia, PA (Best E Casino) - Cincinnati outfielder Ken Griffey Jr., on the cusp of a major milestone, was not in the starting lineup for a second consecutive night as the Reds resumed their four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. He was out with what the club is calling "general soreness." He pinch hit with one out in the eighth inning and was walked on four pitches by Tom Gordon. Griffey was then immediately lifted for a pinch runner. Griffey is one home run shy of becoming the sixth player to reach the 600- homer club, which is currently occupied by Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Sammy Sosa. The 38-year-old belted his 599th career homer on Saturday at Great American Ball Park in a game against Atlanta. Griffey is batting .255 with six home runs and 27 RBI in 54 games this season. Philadelphia clipped the Reds, 3-2.
