Philadelphia, PA (Best E Casino) - The Florida Marlins lost star shortstop Hanley Ramirez to an apparent hand injury in the opener of their three-game set with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. Ramirez took a line drive off his left hand in the fourth inning. He was unable to snare Shane Victorino's liner, which bounced off the hand and into shallow center field. Ramirez was able to recover and flip the ball to second for a fielder's choice, but dropped to his knees in pain after the play. After a meeting with team trainers he decided to stay in the game, but, with the Phillies holding an 11-3 lead, Ramirez was lifted in the fifth for Alfredo Amezaga. Philadelphia held on for a 12-3 win, vaulting past the Marlins and into first place in the National League East. The 24-year-old went 1-for-3 with a single on Friday. Ramirez, who signed the largest deal in franchise history earlier this season when he inked a six-year contract worth up to $70 million, is hitting .292 with nine home runs and 23 runs batted in this season.
