Arlington, TX (Best E Casino) - The Oakland Athletics made nine roster moves on Friday, among them includes placing first baseman Mike Sweeney and outfielder Ryan Sweeney on the 15-day disabled list. Mike Sweeney, who was placed on the DL, retroactive to May 29, with left knee inflammation, was batting .292 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 40 games. Ryan Sweeney was put on the DL with a left toe contusion and was hitting .293 with two homers and 22 RBI in 46 games. Also placed on the DL was pitcher Joey Devine, who had a 3-0 mark and a 1.23 earned-run average in 18 relief appearances. In other moves, the Athletics activated righthander Kiko Calero from the 60- day disabled list and designated lefthander Lenny DiNardo and infielder Kevin Melillo for assignment. The team recalled outfielders Carlos Gonzalez and Travis Buck and purchased the contract of righthander Brad Ziegler from Triple-A Sacramento.
