Philadelphia, PA (Best E Casino) - Greg Dobbs and Pedro Feliz each had a pair of RBI as the
Philadelphia Phillies continued to pound out the runs in a 7-4 win over the
Colorado Rockies in the second of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies offense has been on a torrid pace in the past three games. The club has pounded out 42 runs over the past three contests, which is just two off the club record that was set in 1900.
Jimmy Rollins had a pair of hits and scored twice while Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Geoff Jenkins each had an RBI and a run scored for the Phillies, who have won three straight and six of their last eight.
Kyle Kendrick (4-2) was the beneficiary of the run support as he got the win and was charged with two runs on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings of work.
Ryan Spilborghs hit a two-run home run and Ubaldo Jimenez (1-5) was charged with the loss as he gave up all seven runs on 10 hits in four innings of work for the Rockies, who have dropped five of their last seven.
The bats got started right away for the Phils as they plated four runners in the first inning. Rollins and Shane Victorino hit back-to-back singles and, after Utley struck out, Howard loaded the bases with a walk. Dobbs then hit a blooper to right that dropped and Rollins and Victorino came home. Two batters later, Feliz hit a two-run double to left for a 4-0 lead.
Philadelphia continued to pour on the runs in the second. Utley chased home Rollins with a double and Howard followed with a single to score Utley. After Dobbs singled, Jenkins belted a double to center to plate Howard for a 7-0 lead.
"[Jimenez] is a good pitcher," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "If you jump out 7-0 [on him] you should win that game."
The Rockies got on the board in the fifth as Omar Quintanilla led off with a double and later scored on a ground out from Willy Taveras.
Colorado made things interesting in the eighth. Seth Smith, who went 3-for-5, led off with a double and attempted to come home when Todd Helton followed with a single, but he was nailed at the plate by T.J. Bohn.
Tom Gordon then took the mound and got Garrett Atkins to ground out, but Spilborghs followed with a blast over the left field stands to make it a 7-3 contest. Ian Stewart then doubled and Yorvit Torrealba followed with a single to put runners at the corners, but Quintanilla hit a grounder up the middle and Rollins made a nice play on the ball and got the force out at second to end the frame.
The game went into a one-hour, 27-minute rain delay after the top of the eighth.
Brad Lidge took the hill for the ninth and gave up an RBI single to Helton, but it was with two outs and Lidge got Atkins to fly out and end the game.
