Winnipeg, MB (Best E Casino) - Winnipeg Blue Bombers wide receiver Milt Stegall, the Canadian Football League's all-time touchdown leader, will not be participating in this year's training camp due to a knee injury. Stegall had discomfort and irritation in his knee following last season and underwent arthroscopic surgery on May 2. The team announced it will monitor Stegall's progress, but there is no return date set. "The operation went well and I have been in rehab every single day since the procedure," said Stegall. "After the injury, I was in communication and consultation with the Blue Bombers medical staff. We decided that an arthroscopic procedure was the best option. I look forward to helping the team off the field throughout training camp and returning to the field when I am healthy." The 38-year-old Stegall, a veteran of 13 CFL seasons, broke the old mark of 137 career touchdowns last July when he had three scores in a 38-18 Blue Bombers victory over Hamilton. He finished the season with 1,108 receiving yards - good for seventh among CFL pass-catchers - and eight TDs. Now with 144 career touchdowns, the 6-foot, 189-pound former Miami-Ohio star is an eight-time CFL division all-star. He originally signed with the Blue Bombers in September of 1995, and has reached the playoffs seven times with the club, including one Grey Cup in 2001. The Blue Bombers also released defensive back Juran Bolden on Tuesday.
