Dallas, TX (Best E Casino) - The Dallas Stars are reportedly set to extend the contract of head coach Dave Tippett. The Dallas Morning News quoted co-general manager Les Jackson as saying a deal has been agreed upon "in principle," although a few details need to be finalized before an announcement comes some time next week. According to the paper, the new deal will take Tippett through the 2010-11 season. The Stars, earlier this week, extended the contracts of co-GMs Jackson and Brett Hull for the next three years. Tippett has a regular-season record of 235-127-48 since taking the job on May 21, 2002. The Stars were 45-30-7 this past season and advanced to the Western Conference finals before losing to Detroit in six games. Dallas has won a pair of division titles and has advanced to the playoffs in each of Tippett's five seasons behind the bench. The team had been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs each of the past three years before this season's run to the conference finals.
