Washington, DC (Best E Casino) - The Washington Nationals optioned pitcher Matt Chico to Triple-A Columbus and selected the contract of outfielder Ryan Langerhans on Friday. In concurrent moves, the Nationals optioned pitcher Chris Schroder to Columbus and selected the contracts of pitchers Charlie Manning and Brian Sanches. The team also transferred pitcher Ryan Wagner from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. The 24-year-old Chico is 0-6 with a 6.19 earned run average in 11 games including eight starts this season. Chico made 31 starts for the Nationals in 2007 going 7-9 with a 4.63 ERA. Langerhans, 28, played for the Atlanta Braves and Oakland Athletics before joining the Nationals last season and hit .167 with six home runs and 23 RBI in 125 games for the three teams. Sanches, 29, was 1-1 with a 5.75 ERA in 30 appearances with the Philadelphia Phillies in parts of the previous two seasons. He had seven saves and 0.98 ERA in 14 appearances for Columbus this season. Manning, was six-for-six in save opportunities with a 1.95 ERA in 19 appearances with Columbus.
