Philadelphia, PA (Best E Casino) - Jayson Werth slugged a career-best three home runs and tied a franchise record with eight runs batted in as the Philadelphia Phillies trounced the Toronto Blue Jays, 10-3, in the opener of a three-game interleague set at Citizens Bank Park.

Werth's power display included his first career grand slam, and he became the fifth Phillie to knock in eight runs in a game, joining Kitty Bransfield, Gavvy Cravath, Willie Jones and Mike Schmidt.

Ryan Howard and Shane Victorino each drove in a run for the Phillies, winners in three of their last four games. Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-4, doubled and scored a pair of runs. Jamie Moyer (3-3) pitched 6 2/3 strong innings, holding the Blue Jays to three runs on seven hits while striking out five.

Alex Rios went 2-for-4 and drove in a run for the Jays, who had a four-game win streak snapped. Marco Scutaro and Scott Rolen knocked in a run apiece for Toronto. David Purcey (0-1) was shelled for eight runs on five hits and four walks in just three innings.

Werth's career night started in the bottom of the second, as the Phils opened up a lead that they would never relinquish.

Howard and Pat Burrell worked back-to-back walks to start the frame, and Werth made Purcey pay for his control problems by clubbing his seventh homer of the season into the seats in right.

Rollins reached on a bunt single to start the third, and after Victorino walked and was caught stealing, Utley singled Rollins to third. Howard followed by yanking an RBI single to right, upping the Philadelphia lead to 4-0. Burrell walked to load the bases, and Werth delivered once again, launching his first career grand slam off the facing of the second deck in right.

Toronto picked up a pair in the fourth as Aaron Hill reached on an infield single with one out, then scored when Rios ripped a double to the gap in left- center. Rolen followed with a run-scoring single up the middle.

Werth continued his one-man show in the fifth, drilling a Jesse Litsch curveball just over the wall in left-center for a solo shot. Back-to-back two- out doubles from Rollins and Victorino tacked on another run for the Phils in the sixth to cap off the scoring for Philadelphia.

Scutaro added a two-out RBI single for the Jays in the seventh that ended Moyer's night, but Chad Durbin came on in relief to stem the rally and Toronto could get no closer.
