Lake Forest, IL (Best E Casino) - The Chicago Bears have signed kicker
Robbie Gould to a five-year contract extension, the team announced on Monday.
Terms of the deal, which runs through the 2013 season, were not disclosed.
Gould, a Penn State product, made 31-of-36 field goals in 2007, and converted
33 extra points to give him 126 points. It was his second straight season of
at least 125 points after leading all NFL kickers in scoring in 2006 with 143
points, hitting 32-of-36 field goals and all 47 of his extra point attempts on
his way to being named first-team All Pro for the Bears.
The 25-year-old was signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free
agent in 2005, and broke in with the Bears that season. For his career, Gould
is Chicago's all-time field goal percentage leader among kickers with at least
50 attempts, making 84.8 percent of his kicks (84-of-99).
