New York, NY (Best E Casino) - The New York Knicks are reportedly negotiating with Suns head coach Mike D'Antoni to become their next coach. The New York Post reported on its website on Friday, citing a league source, that contract conversations have begun between new Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh and D'Antoni's agent. The two sides are far from a deal, the Post said. The Knicks fired head coach Isiah Thomas last month, bringing a close to his disastrous two-year run, during which New York stumbled to a 56-108 record. D'Antoni, conversely, is reportedly on the outs with Phoenix management despite his successful run with the Suns, who he has led to a 253-136 mark in four-plus seasons. The club has twice reached the conference finals under D'Antoni, but has yet to advance to the NBA Finals. The Suns granted D'Antoni permission to speak with other clubs after Phoenix lost their Western Conference quarterfinal series to the Spurs in five games. The Knicks are not the only club vying for his services, however, as the Chicago Bulls are also reportedly mulling an offer to D'Antoni.
