Philadelphia, PA (Best E Casino) - Danny Briere's power-play goal with 3:38 remaining in regulation proved to be the game-winner, as the Philadelphia Flyers doubled up the Montreal Canadiens, 4-2, in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series from the Wachovia Center. R.J. Umberger scored twice for the sixth-seeded Flyers, who hold a 3-1 lead in the series and are one win away from reaching the conference finals for the first time since 2004, when they were ousted in seven games by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Scott Hartnell also lit the lamp and Briere added an assist, while Vinny Prospal collected two helpers. Martin Biron was a rock in goal, stopping 36 of 38 shots to earn the victory. Tomas Plekanec and Saku Koivu provided the offense for the top-seeded Canadiens, who will host Game 5 on Saturday. Francis Bouillon had two assists for Montreal, which has overcome a 3-1 series deficit only once in its storied history. The Canadiens rallied to eliminate the Boston Bruins in the conference quarterfinals in 2004. Montreal elected to start goaltender Jaroslav Halak and sit rookie phenom Carey Price. Halak, making his first start since March 29 and first of his playoff career, made 22 saves in defeat.

Final Score: San Jose 2, Dallas 1

Dallas, TX (Best E Casino) - Milan Michalek scored the game-winning goal 3:26 into the third period, as the San Jose Sharks avoided elimination with a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars in Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal series from the American Airlines Center. Patrick Marleau also tallied for the second-seeded Sharks, who have only been swept once in their playoff history as Detroit accomplished the feat in the 1995 semifinals. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 17-of-18 shots to pick up the win. Jere Lehtinen scored an unassisted goal for the fifth-seeded Stars, who hold a 3-1 lead in the series. Marty Turco allowed two goals on 24 shots in defeat. Game 5 of this set will be held Friday evening in San Jose.
