San Antonio, TX (Best E Casino) - Tony Parker finished with 20 points and seven assists, and the
San Antonio Spurs dominated Seattle, 95-74, to sustain their push for the top spot in the Western Conference.
Michael Finley had 14 points, and Fabricio Oberto had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs, who moved within one game of New Orleans for first in the conference, after the Hornets lost to the Lakers on Friday. LA sits a half-game ahead of San Antonio.
Ime Udoka scored 13, and Tim Duncan 12, for San Antonio, which is also tied with Houston in the standings.
Kevin Durant had a team-high 20 points for Seattle, which has lost three straight and eight of nine. Earl Watson had 17 points, and Nick Collison hauled in 14 boards and eight points for the SuperSonics.
The Spurs got behind early, as Seattle ended the first quarter on an eight- point run. Durant had the final four points, which boosted the Sonics' lead to 20-13.
But San Antonio turned the table in the second stanza, evening the game at 22-22 when Parker made consecutive jumpers just more than two minutes in. The game was back-and-forth until San Antonio finished the half with its own eight-point run. Finley drained a three-pointer to close the scoring, and put the Spurs on top, 45-37, at intermission.
San Antonio kept pulling away at the outset of the third quarter, as Duncan made consecutive layups, pushing his team's lead into double digits. Parker hit a jumper halfway through the stanza to give the Spurs a 59-45 advantage, and they led 72-57 heading into the fourth.
Jacque Vaughn made a pair of free throws just under two minutes into the final period to give San Antonio its first 20-point lead, at 80-60. With 5:32 left, Matt Bonner tipped in a shot to boost the Spurs to an 88-67 edge, and they cruised to the finish.
