San Antonio, TX (Best E Casino) - The San Antonio Spurs signed guard/forward DerMarr Johnson on Friday. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 27-year-old Johnson has spent most of the 2007-08 season with San Antonio's NBA Development League affiliate, the Austin Toros. The Cincinnati product averaged 4.0 points in three games with the Spurs in late December and early January this season, before he was waived on January 7. Johnson was a highly-touted high school star and was selected sixth overall by the Hawks in the 2000 draft after only one season at Cincinnati. After two so- so seasons in Atlanta, a car crash left Johnson with four cracked vertebra in his neck. The 6-foot-9 swingman did not return to the court until 2003-04 with the Knicks. He then spent three seasons in Denver, where he saw considerable time in 2004-05, averaging 7.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 71 games, with 40 starts for the Nuggets. His time and productivity declined over the next two seasons, however. Johnson owns career averages of 6.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 342 games.
