Philadelphia, PA (Best E Casino) - Martin Biron made 22 saves, posting his fourth shutout of the season, and Philadelphia earned an improbable 3-0 victory over the New Jersey Devils at the Wachovia Center, on a night the Flyers clinched a playoff berth. It was the 22nd shutout of Biron's career, having come at the most critical of times. With the win, the Flyers jumped over idle Washington for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference with 93 points. Then, just minutes following the conclusion of the game, Carolina (92 points) lost its regular season finale, falling to Florida, 4-3 in regulation, cementing Philadelphia's postseason status. The Flyers are a point behind Ottawa and Boston, who are tied for sixth place. Philadelphia can improve its seeding with a home win over the Penguins on Sunday. The Senators, who lost at home to the Bruins on Friday, are finished with their regular season schedule, but Boston hosts Buffalo Saturday night. Martin Brodeur made 33 saves for New Jersey, which had a three-game win streak snapped but can lock up the fourth seed in the East -- and home ice advantage -- with a point in its game against the New York Rangers Sunday at the Prudential Center.

Final Score: NY Islanders 4, NY Rangers 3 (SO)

New York, NY (Best E Casino) - Richard Park scored the game-winner in the fourth round of the shootout as the Islanders downed the Rangers, 4-3, in the back end of a home-and-home set at Madison Square Garden. Jaromir Jagr posted a goal and an assist while Henrik Lundqvist finished the game with 29 saves for the Rangers, who had won their previous two games and with 96 points sit in the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference. That's one behind the Devils. The Rangers last game of the season will be a big one as the team travels to New Jersey on Sunday. Should the Rangers win the game in regulation, they will be guaranteed home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Richard Park had a goal and an assist while Wade Dubielewicz finished the game with 48 saves for the Islanders, who finished their season by snapping a four-game skid. The Islanders finished the season with a mark of 35-38-9, good for 79 points and 13th in the Eastern Conference.

Final Score: Florida 4, Carolina 3

Raleigh, NC (Best E Casino) - Nathan Horton and Radek Dvorak each finished with a goal and an assist, as the Florida Panthers edged Carolina, 4-3, a loss that harmed the Hurricanes' playoff hopes. A Carolina win would have clinched the Southeast Division title. Instead, the Hurricanes finished the season with 92 points (43-33-6) and remained tied with idle Washington, which also closes out its season at home against Florida, on Saturday. The Hurricanes would need a Washington loss in regulation to win the division, as the Capitals (42-31-8) would have fewer wins, and lose the tiebreaker. Even if the Capitals lose in overtime, the Hurricanes would miss out on the playoffs. The Panthers had already been eliminated from the playoff race, but snapped a 15-game winless streak at Carolina. Jay Bouwmeester and Steve Montador also tallied, and Craig Anderson stopped 26-of-28 shots in net. Florida's starting netminder Tomas Vokoun played the first period and made 17 saves, but had to sit out the rest of the game because of back spasms. Eric Staal, Sergei Samsonov, and Trevor Letowski scored the goals for Carolina, which lost three of four to end the year. Cam Ward gave up all four goals on just 17 shots in the loss.

Final Score: Boston 2, Ottawa 1

Ottawa, ON (Best E Casino) - Phil Kessel's third-period goal propelled the Boston Bruins over the Ottawa Senators, 2-1, as both clubs clinched a playoff spot during a pivotal showdown at Scotiabank Place. Zdeno Chara also scored and Tim Thomas made 17 saves for Boston, which is 4-0-3 in its last seven games and closes out the regular season Saturday against Buffalo. The Bruins have 94 points and are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference. They made it in to the postseason thanks in part to Florida's 4-3 win over Carolina Friday night. Antoine Vermette had the lone tally and Martin Gerber stopped 27-of-29 shots for the Senators, who closed out the regular season 2-5-1 in their last eight games but backdoored their way into the playoffs. The reigning conference champs must now wait for the outcome of several other contests over the weekend to determine what seed they will hold. The Senators played without the services of forwards Daniel Alfredsson and Mike Fisher. Both were injured in Thursday's 8-2 win in Toronto and will miss an extended period of time. Alfredsson is suffering from upper body and knee injuries, while Fisher is also down with a knee injury.

Final Score: Chicago 3, Nashville 1

Chicago, IL (Best E Casino) - Adam Burish notched the game-winning goal early in the contest, as Chicago rode a three-goal first period to top Nashville, 3-1, at United Center. Patrick Kane registered a goal and one assists and Jonathan Toews also tallied for the Blackhawks, who have won four in a row and five of six. With the victory, Chicago earned its 40th win of the season, the first time it has reached the plateau since winning 41 games in 2001-2002. Patrick Lalime made 29 saves to post his 16th win of the season. Rich Peverley provided the only offense for the Predators, whose two game win streak was halted. Nashville completed its regular-season at 41-32-9 for 91 points, and will face top-seeded Detroit as the eighth seed in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Chris Mason was pulled just beyond the midway point in regulation after allowing three goals on 12 shots. Pekka Rinne took over and finished the game by stopping all eight shots he faced.

Final Score: Phoenix 4, Dallas 2

Dallas, TX (Best E Casino) - Daniel Carcillo tallied his first career hat trick as the Phoenix Coyotes held off the Dallas Stars, 4-2, at American Airlines Center. Marty Turco stopped 17 shots in the loss for Dallas, which will face Anaheim in the first round of the playoffs as the fifth seed. The loss ensured home-ice advantage for Anaheim. Trevor Daley and Philippe Boucher each lit the lamp for the Stars, who had won two of three coming into the game. Martin Hanzal scored a goal while Mikael Tellqvist stopped 30 shots for the Coyotes, who stopped a three-game slide.
