Phoenix Suns will try to extend their winning streak to eight games tonight, when they open a four-game road trip against the
Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
The Suns will also visit Boston, Philadelphia and New Jersey on the current swing, and are 21-12 away from US Airways Center this season. Phoenix has won two straight, three of four and four of its last six contests on the road.
Phoenix kept its winning streak intact with Saturday's 122-113 home victory over the Houston Rockets, as Amare Stoudemire scored 38 points and set a franchise-record by making all 20 of his free throws. Stoudemire also pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked four shots for the Suns, who sit third in the Western Conference playoff race and are a half game behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the top spot in the Pacific Division.
Shaquille O'Neal tallied 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Leandro Barbosa scored 21 points in the win. On the injury front for the Suns, guard Raja Bell is questionable for Monday's game because of a sprained right ankle.
Detroit will try to avoid losing three straight games for just the second time this season when it takes on Phoenix Monday night. The Pistons, who lost three in a row from January 18 - 21, have dropped back-to-back games and suffered a 95-83 setback to the Washington Wizards on Sunday at the Verizon Center.
Richard Hamilton poured in 19 points for the Central Division-leading Pistons, who still need one more win for 50 for a seventh consecutive season. Chauncey Billups had 11 points and 11 assists, as Detroit sits second in the East standings behind mighty Boston.
The Pistons have won three straight, six of seven and 13 of their last 15 contests at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Detroit handed the Suns a 116-86 loss on February 24 at US Airways Center, and has won two straight and four of the last five matchups in the series.
Phoenix is just 1-3 in its last four trips to the Motor City.
