New York, NY (Best E Casino) - The Super Bowl champion New York Giants are reportedly set to give kicker Lawrence Tynes a long-term contract. Tynes kicked the Giants into the Super Bowl with a 47-yard overtime boot to beat Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game on a frigid night at Lambeau Field. He was nearly the goat of the contest, missing a pair of shorter kicks in the fourth quarter of New York's 23-20 victory. The New York Daily News cites an NFL source in its Tuesday report, saying the Giants and Tynes are close to an agreement on a five-year deal worth $7 million. Tynes finished with 109 points in his first season with the Giants. He made 23-of-27 field goal tries and missed two of his 42 point-after attempts during the regular season. In the Super Bowl XLII victory over New England, Tynes gave New York its first points with a 32-yard field goal in the first quarter. The Giants acquired Tynes from the Kansas City Chiefs in a trade for future considerations prior to the 2007 season after Jay Feely left as a free agent to sign with Miami.
