Washington Wizards play the second of a four-game road trip, as they visit the
Phoenix Suns tonight at US Airways Center.
This is the second and final meeting of the campaign between the clubs. On December 7th, Amare Stoudemire scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Suns to a 122-107 rout of the Wizards at the Verizon Center.
The Suns have won two in a row in the series. Washington has won two straight after losing its last three at Phoenix.
The Wizards have dropped a season-worst six in a row and opened the swing on Friday at Denver. Carmelo Anthony exploded for a career-high 49 points and the Nuggets cruised past Washington, 111-100, at the Pepsi Center.
Antawn Jamison led Washington with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Andray Blatche had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Rookie Nick Young scored 19 off the bench in the loss.
On the injury front for Washington, All-Star forward Caron Butler (strained left hip flexor) is doubtful. Butler is averaging 21.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists this season. He has missed two straight games.
Washington, which is 9-14 on the road this season, will visit the Golden State Warriors on Monday at ORACLE Arena and the Clippers on Wednesday at the Staples Center.
Phoenix wraps up a six-game homestand against the Wizards. On Friday, Amare Stoudemire scored a game-high 33 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Suns escaped with a 103-99 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics at US Airways Center.
Grant Hill scored 16 points, including the go-ahead bucket inside the 30- second mark, while two-time MVP Steve Nash ended with 13 points and eight assists. Phoenix made all 32 of its free-throw attempts, coming up just shy of the franchise record, set December 23, 1980, when they went 33-for-33 from the line against the Pistons.
The Suns, who are 18-6 at home this season, will visit Baron Davis and the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday at ORACLE Arena.
