Denver Nuggets open a three-game road trip, as they visit the
Cleveland Cavaliers tonight at Quicken Loans Arena.
This is the second and final meeting of the campaign between the squads. On November 12th, Allen Iverson scored 37 points and handed out eight assists as the Nuggets rolled over the Cleveland Cavaliers, 122-100, at the Pepsi Center.
The Nuggets have won four in a row in the series. Denver has won three of its last four at Cleveland.
Denver is fresh off a solid win in front of its fans. On Friday, Carmelo Anthony exploded for a career-high 49 points and the Nuggets cruised past the struggling Washington Wizards, 111-100, at the Pepsi Center.
Anthony had 29 at the half and finished the night 19-for-25 from the floor, as he drained all three of his three-point attempts and also knocked down all eight of his free throws. Iverson finished with 18 points and 11 assists for Denver, which won for the fourth time in its last five games overall.
The Nuggets are 9-13 on the road this season. They will also visit the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic on their current swing.
Iverson (sore left wrist) is probable for tonight's contest. The Georgetown product has not missed a game this season, and is averaging a team-best 26.9 points per game. He also leads the team in assists (7.2 apg).
Cleveland will also try to win back-to-back games this evening. Superstar LeBron James had a game-high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds and seven assists, as the Cavaliers held on to defeat the Atlanta Hawks, 100-95, on Friday at Philips Arena.
The Cavaliers were without the services of Daniel Gibson (strained right hamstring) and Drew Gooden (strained right groin), and lost Larry Hughes in the fourth quarter to a toe injury.
Ira Newble chipped in with 18 points and eight boards for the Cavaliers, who have won three of their last four games overall. Zydrunas Ilgauskas recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Damon Jones added 13 points off the bench. Hughes scored 15 points before leaving the game with the injury.
Gooden is questionable, while Gibson is doubtful.
Cleveland, which has won two in a row as the host, is 15-7 at home this season. The Cavaliers will visit Orlando on Monday at Amway Arena.
