NEW YORK (AP) -Los Angeles Clippers guard Sam Cassell was suspended for Friday night's game against Toronto without pay for committing a flagrant foul against Boston's Rajon Rondo. Cassell was ejected after hitting Rondo's head in the second quarter of the Celtics' 111-100 win Wednesday. Cassell was assessed a flagrant foul, penalty two, NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson said in a statement Friday. The foul came on the same day Cassell had been quoted in the Boston Globe as saying he wanted out of his $6.15 million deal with the Clippers so he could join the Celtics. He has since said he was misquoted. Cassell is averaging 13.1 points and a team-leading 4.5 assists in 34 games for the Clippers (15-31), who are already without injured forward Elton Brand and point guard Shaun Livingston.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press.
