Washington Wizards attempt to halt a five-game losing streak when they visit the
Denver Nuggets tonight at the Pepsi Center.
The Wizards begin a four-game road trip tonight. On Wednesday, Tim Duncan scored 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the defending-champion San Antonio Spurs to an 85-77 win over Washington at the Verizon Center.
All-Star Antawn Jamison ended with 18 points and Andray Blatche chipped in 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Wizards, losers of five in a row, tying their season-high from the start of the season. DeShawn Stevenson registered 11 points in defeat.
Washington is 9-13 on the road this season. The Wizards will also visit Phoenix, Golden State and the Clippers on the current swing.
On the injury front for Washington, All-Star forward Caron Butler (strained left hip flexor) is questionable. Butler is averaging 21.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists this season. He did not play against San Antonio.
Denver wraps up a two-game homestand this evening. On Wednesday, Deron Williams finished with 29 points and 11 assists and Kyle Korver netted 27 points as Utah overcame a second-half Denver surge for a 118-115 victory in overtime at the Pepsi Center.
Allen Iverson poured in 34 points and handed out 10 assists for Denver, which had chances to win the game at the end of regulation and in overtime. Carmelo Anthony ended with 29 points and eight rebounds before fouling out midway through the extra session.
The Nuggets are 20-6 at home this season. After tonight's contest, they will embark on a three-game road trip to Cleveland, Miami and Orlando.
This is the second and final meeting of the campaign between the clubs. On November 9th, Anthony scored 32 points, including 12 straight in the third quarter, as the Nuggets crushed the Wizards, 118-92, at the Verizon Center.
The Nuggets have won two in a row in the series. Washington has lost four of its last five at Denver.
