Santa Clara, CA (Best E Casino) - The San Francisco 49ers re-signed quarterback Shaun Hill Thursday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Hill was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on February 29, after seeing the most action of his career in 2007. He stepped into the Niners' starting role in place of the injured Alex Smith and Trent Dilfer. The veteran backup led the 49ers to a 2-0 record as a starter, completing 54- of-79 passes for 501 yards and five touchdowns with one interception. Last year marked the first time Hill had attempted a pass in his six-year NFL career. Prior to joining the 49ers as a free agent in 2006, he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings for four years (2002-05), serving primarily as the team's third quarterback.
