New Jersey Nets play the fifth of a six-game road trip, as they visit the
Denver Nuggets tonight at the Pepsi Center.
This is the first of two contests between the clubs this season. New Jersey is scheduled to host the Nuggets on March 21st at the Izod Center.
The teams split a pair of contests last season. New Jersey has won two straight and four of its last five at Denver.
New Jersey has dropped a season-worst seven straight contests. On Thursday, Monta Ellis scored a career-high 39 points and Al Harrington couldn't miss during an overwhelming burst early in the fourth, as Golden State survived New Jersey, 121-119, in a battle of fourth-quarter bursts at ORACLE Arena.
Richard Jefferson poured in 34 points, Vince Carter added 29 points and Josh Boone notched a double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds for the Nets, who have dropped seven straight for the first time since November 2004.
The Nets will visit Al Jefferson and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday at the Target Center in the finale of the swing. New Jersey is 9-10 on the road this season.
Denver concludes a two-game homestand tonight. Marcus Camby had 13 points and 21 rebounds as the Nuggets defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 107-100, on Wednesday at the Pepsi Center.
Allen Iverson scored 29 points and Linas Kleiza netted 23 for the Nuggets, who were without star forward Carmelo Anthony. The Syracuse product missed his first game of the season with a sprained left ankle. Anthony left Monday's loss to the Lakers in the second quarter after coming down on Kobe Bryant's foot, and is doubtful for Friday's contest.
Kenyon Martin had 20 points and 10 boards in the win for Denver, which has won three of its last four games overall.
The Nuggets are 18-5 at home this season. After tonight's contest, they will embark on a three-game road trip to Dallas, New Orleans and Memphis.
