(Best E Casino) - The
Atlanta Hawks open a five-game road trip tonight, as they visit the
Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.
This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On January 15th, Joe Johnson led a balanced attack with 22 points and five assists as the Hawks built a sizeable cushion by halftime, then held on for a 104-93 victory over the Nuggets at Philips Arena.
The Hawks have won three of the last four games in the series. Atlanta has won four of its last six at Denver.
Atlanta will try and put the brakes on a three-game losing streak. Travis Outlaw drained a jumper from the top of the key with nine-tenths of a second left in overtime to give the Portland Trail Blazers a 111-109 victory on Monday in Atlanta.
Joe Johnson recorded a game-high 37 points for the Hawks. Tyronn Lue had 18 points off the bench, while Josh Smith notched 17 points and 17 rebounds in defeat.
The Hawks will also visit Seattle, Portland, Phoenix and the Clippers on the swing. They are just 5-11 on the road this season.
Atlanta will be without center/forward Zaza Pachulia, who is averaging 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Pachulia was suspended by the club for conduct detrimental to the team.
The Nuggets attempt to bounce back from a bad loss, as they open a short two- game homestand. Derek Fisher made 6-of-7 three-pointers and scored 28 total points, as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Nuggets, 116-99, on Monday at the Staples Center.
Allen Iverson collected 24 points for Denver and Carmelo Anthony scored 13 before leaving in the second quarter with a left ankle injury. X-rays were negative, though he did not return. Linas Kleiza had 21 points off the bench for the Nuggets, who had a two-game winning streak halted.
Anthony, who is averaging 25.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season, is doubtful for tonight. The Syracuse product has not missed a game this season.
Denver is 17-5 at home this season. The Nuggets will host Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets on Friday at the Pepsi Center.
