DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -Rex Ryan became the third candidate to interview for the Miami Dolphins' head coaching job Tuesday.

The former Baltimore defensive coordinator has also interviewed for the Ravens' head job. He and the rest of the Baltimore coaching staff were fired, along with coach Brian Billick, following a 5-11 season.

The son of former NFL head coach Buddy Ryan, the 45-year-old Ryan coached the Ravens' defense to rankings of fifth, first and sixth the past three seasons.

Dallas Cowboys assistant head coach Tony Sparano is still considered a heavy favorite for the Miami job, which may be why Arizona offensive coordinator Todd Haley declined an invitation to interview with the Dolphins. Haley instead signed a contract extension Tuesday with the Cardinals.

Sparano, who has ties with new Dolphins boss Bill Parcells and new general manager Jeff Ireland, interviewed with Miami last weekend. Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier interviewed Monday and Tuesday.

The Dolphins fired Cam Cameron last Thursday after he went 1-15 in his first year as an NFL head coach.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
