Chicago, IL (Best E Casino) - Dustin Byfuglien recorded a natural hat trick in the first period as the Chicago Blackhawks crushed the Phoenix Coyotes, 6-1, at United Center.

Tuomo Ruutu added two goals while Jonathan Toews tallied a goal and two assists for the Blackhawks, who have won two straight and four of six overall.

"It was a good effort all around," said Byfuglien. "Everyone was in position and we moved the puck well. It's always easier when you have guys you can have fun with out there. Everything went right tonight and we have to just keep going."

Nikolai Khabibulin made 28 saves in the win for Chicago, which has won five straight at home. It is the first time the team has accomplished that feat since a seven-game run from December 27, 2001-January 20, 2002.

Peter Mueller scored the lone goal for the Coyotes, who have dropped their last two after a four-game winning streak.

Ilya Bryzgalov started in net, but was pulled after allowing five goals on just seven shots. Mikael Tellqvist finished the game and gave up one goal on 19 shots.

The Blackhawks took control of this game with five goals in the first 10:30 of the contest.

Ruutu got things going just 1:15 in as he snapped a wrist shot from the right circle through a screen. Just 2:42 later Toews picked up a loose puck in the slot and slapped it past Bryzgalov.

Byfuglien got his first goal at the 5:01 mark as his shot from the slot beat Bryzgalov on the glove side.

On a 5-on-3 power play, Byfuglien got his second goal of the game on a one- timer from Sergei Samsonov with 9:46 left in the first.

Byfuglien completed the natural hat trick just 16 seconds later as he took a feed from Patrick Kane and blasted a one-timer at the left circle into the net.

That was it for Bryzgalov as he was pulled and Tellqvist went between the pipes.

Ruutu made it a 6-0 game with his second goal of the contest 8:10 into the second period.

Phoenix spoiled Khabibulin's shutout bid with 7:57 left in the contest as Mueller skated down the right wing, beat the defender, cut in front of the net and lifted a backhander under the crossbar.
