New York, NY (Best E Casino) - Stephon Marbury returned to the starting lineup, but it was much of the same for the Knicks, as Baron Davis poured in 31 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 108-82 thrashing of New York.

Marbury led the Knicks with 18 points, but couldn't stop the Warriors from sending New York to its seventh straight loss. His return to the starting lineup came after spending the last three games coming off the bench. Marbury left the team for one game after learning of his demotion.

Davis made 11-of-20 from the field, including 4-of-6 three-pointers for the Warriors, who cruised to their third straight win after dropping six straight to start the season. Stephen Jackson had 23 points, seven assists, and six rebounds for Golden State, and Mickael Pietrus had 16 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Zach Randolph ripped down 16 rebounds and scored 15 points for the Knicks, and Jamal Crawford scored 15 points. Eddy Curry and David Lee scored 12 points apiece for New York, which turned the ball over a season-high 29 times.

The Warriors rolled off 11 straight points midway through the first quarter, part of a 21-5 run that put Golden State on top. A Crawford dunk put the Knicks on top 15-10 with 5:50 left in the quarter, but Davis scored eight straight points, starting with a three-pointer, and made one-of-two free throws to finish the run, giving Golden State a 21-15 lead with 4:19 left.

The Warriors took a 31-24 lead into the second quarter. The Knicks pulled to within 35-33 after a Crawford three with 7:55 left, but the Warriors answered, pushing their lead back to 60-47 by the break.

"We definitely had matchup problems with Golden State," said Knicks president and head coach Isiah Thomas. "They hit us in all the right areas as far as mismatches. They do a good job of exploiting those. We're a much better team than we showed tonight. We'll keep battling."

Golden State led 77-62 entering the fourth quarter, where the Warriors turned the jets on and pulled away. A 21-8 stretch all but put the game away for Golden State. Davis nailed two more triples on the run, and Golden State took a 105-78 lead on two Jackson free throws with 2:41 left.

Throughout the game, the Madison Square Garden crowd could be heard very loudly chanting for the ousting of Thomas.

"Fire Isiah, Fire Isiah!" chanted the New York faithful.

"I certainly understand what they were chanting...it wasn't nice," Thomas said. "When you're watching a game like we played tonight, (we) deserve it. The booing...that's how the fans react and it comes with the territory. We're definitely capable of winning our fans back. We've just got to win basketball games."

Game Notes

The Warriors scored 35 points off Knicks turnovers...Kelenna Azubuike finished with 11 points and six rebounds for the Warriors...The Knicks outrebounded the Warriors, 52-34.
