(Best E Casino) - The
Golden State Warriors try to make it three wins in a row tonight, as they visit the struggling
New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
Golden State plays the second of a five-game road trip. Baron Davis scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out seven assists for the Warriors while keying a fourth-quarter comeback in a 106-100 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday at ORACLE Arena.
Andris Biedrins scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Stephen Jackson, who was playing in his first game of the season after serving a seven-game suspension for his legal troubles, netted 17 points and Kelenna Azubuike ended with 16 in the victory.
The Warriors will visit the new-look Boston Celtics on Wednesday at TD Banknorth Garden, Washington on Friday at the Verizon Center and Philadelphia on Saturday at the Wachovia Center.
With head coach Isiah Thomas on the hot seat, New York enters tonight's contest on a six-game losing streak. Carmelo Anthony scored 24 points and Allen Iverson netted 23 to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 115-83 victory over the Knicks at the Pepsi Center.
Zach Randolph led New York with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Eddy Curry tallied 12 points and Mardy Collins netted 10 for the Knicks, who return home after going winless on a four-game road trip.
The Knicks, who were reportedly kicked out of practice this week by Thomas, are 2-2 at home this season. They will visit the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Rumors that Thomas could be on his way out of New York are circulating. The recent mess involving point guard Stephon Marbury, the sexual harassment lawsuit which Thomas and Madison Square Garden lost prior to the season and the Knicks' overall poor play could end up leading to Thomas' dismissal in the very near future.
New York's six-game losing streak is its worst since dropping nine in a row from March 19 to April 4, 2006. Larry Brown was the head coach during the nine-game skid.
Last season, the Warriors and Knicks split a pair of contests. Golden State has dropped two of its last three at MSG.
