Concord, NC (Best E Casino) - Hendrick Motorsports announced a pair of personnel moves on Tuesday, including one which will switch Casey Mears from his No. 25 Chevrolet to No. 5 Chevy for the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Mears, who is in his first season at Hendrick Motorsports, has one victory and a pole position through 25 races. Alan Gustafson is the crew chief for the No. 5 Chevy, and he has earned four victories since 2005. "My goal is to meet the high standard the drivers before me helped established with the No. 5 Chevrolet, both on and off the track," Mears said on Hendricks' Web site. "I'm looking forward to working with Alan and the team to continue the winning tradition for Kellogg's, CARQUEST and Hendrick Motorsports." Since its inception in 1984, the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team has posted 27 victories and 35 pole positions with just four different drivers. The racing team also announced that Tony Eury Jr. will be the crew chief for Dale Earnhardt Jr., who will join Hendrick Motorsports for the 2008 Sprint Cup Series season. Eury, who has been Earnhardt's crew chief for the past two seasons, signed a multi-year agreement with the organization this week.
