East Rutherford, NJ (Best E Casino) - Richard Hamilton shot 8-of-13 from the floor for 24 points, as the Detroit Pistons routed the New Jersey Nets, 113-89, at Continental Airlines Arena.

Chauncey Billups had 18 points, including 12-of-12 from the line, and dished out five assists while Chris Webber added 17 points and five assists for the Pistons, who have won two of their last three games. Jason Maxiell scored 16 points and grabbed six boards in the win.

"We seem to score when we don't run," Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. "We are a halfcourt execution team and we're almost like the counter puncher. We see how people defend us and so then we can take counters off that. I think we're at our best when we kind of get into a push halfcourt-type setting. That's what we did as far as tonight."

Mikki Moore poured in 20 points and pulled down five rebounds and Jason Kidd donated 15 points for the Nets, who had a two-game winning streak snapped. Vince Carter was just 4-of-15 from the field for 11 points.

"We just didn't have a whole lot," said Nets head coach Lawrence Frank. "For us, it's just going to be hard for us to win games giving up 30-plus points in three of the four quarters."

The Pistons led 30-27 after the opening 12 minutes of play.

Josh Boone's free throw brought the Nets within 37-33, but Detroit reeled off a 13-3 run, including four from Maxiell and Hamilton, for a 50-36 margin.

The Pistons took a 62-51 lead into the locker room.

Carter missed his first eight shots from the field and didn't drain a field goal until the 7:44 mark of the third quarter. He tied a career-low with two points in the first half.

Detroit opened the third quarter with a 15-7 streak, capped by a pair of Billups free throws, for a 77-58 drubbing. From that point on the game was a laugher.

"We talked about continuing to attack," Billups said. "Against a team that runs and guns like New Jersey, when you can get onto the free throw line it slows the game down and you have a better chance to win."

The Pistons set a team record by sinking their first 27 free throws until Webber missed one with under four minutes to play in the third quarter.

Detroit held a commanding 93-69 advantage heading into the final frame.

New Jersey never got any closer than 19 points in the fourth quarter.

"Most of the games we've played against Detroit are in the 80s and when they had 60 at halftime it went out the window," Kidd said. "We have to bounce back. We play Orlando on Friday and we have to find a way to get a win on the road."
