Daytona Beach, FL (Best E Casino) - Second-year driver David Gilliland led all drivers in the first of three days of testing at the Daytona International Speedway for those Nextel Cup drivers who didn't participate in the first session last week. The No.38 Robert Yates Racing Ford circled the 2.5-mile superspeedway in 48.625 seconds (185.090 m.p.h.). Then on Tuesday Ryan Newman was fastest at 48.247 seconds (186.540 m.p.h.) Other drivers who are testing this week include: Juan Montoya, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth and Newman's Penske teammate Kurt Busch. There was only one session on Monday after rain wiped out the morning test session, but the field completed two test sessions on Tuesday. A couple of incidents marred Tuesday's test, Mike Wallace spun in the No.09 Chevrolet and ex-Formula One star Juan Montoya brushed the wall in the No.42 Dodge. Neither driver was injured. Testing continues on Wednesday.
