Montreal, QC (Best E Casino) - Ryan Kesler posted a goal and two assists and Roberto Luongo turned aside all 30 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season as the surging Vancouver Canucks blanked the Montreal Canadiens, 4-0.

Jan Bulis and Josh Green each had a goal and an assist while Kevin Bieksa finished with two helpers for the Canucks, who have won nine of their last 10 games to leap-frog Calgary for first place in the Northwest Division.

"Its like a cycle. If I play well, they play well," said Luongo. "We feed off each other. Right now, especially on the road, we're playing a solid defensive game and taking care of the opportunities to score."

Cristobal Huet yielded all four Montreal goals on 24 shots for the Canadiens, who have dropped three in a row and six of their last eight.

"We made the decision to bench (defenseman) Craig Rivet and (left wing) Sergei Samsonov tonight and it didn't work," said Montreal head coach Guy Carbonneau. "We have no confidence as we had before the Christmas break."

The Canucks struck 6:36 into the opening period as Bieksa's dump-in bounced off the backboards and in front of the net for Green, who fired the puck past Huet to give Vancouver a 1-0 lead.

The Canucks doubled their lead just over two minutes later while on the power play. Bulis, skating behind the net, threw the puck into the left circle for Lukas Krajicek and he rifled a shot top shelf to make it 2-0.

Kesler made it 3-0 with 6:09 left in the second period when he redirected Bieksa's shot from the right-point past Huet.

Then, just under a minute into the final period, Bulis broke out on a 2-on-1 break before firing a shot past Huet glove side.

Game Notes

The Canucks won the first games of their current four-game road trip. They will travel to Ottawa on Thursday...Vancouver has won four straight in the series against the Canadiens and are unbeaten in the last nine encounters 9-0-1 (one tie)...It was the 30th career shutout for Luongo.
