Daytona Beach, FL (Best E Casinos) - Dale Earnhardt Jr. led all drivers in day two of testing at the Daytona International Speedway. The No.8 DEI Chevrolet driver posted a best time of 48.230 seconds (186.606 m.p.h.). The speeds were up on two day as small groups of drivers tested at the same time unlike day one when most teams sent their drivers out one at a time. Casey Mears (48.273) and first-day leader Tony Raines (48.276) were second and third fastest in the afternoon session. Dodge's fastest time was put up by Reed Sorenson (48.279) while Ford was led by Ricky Rudd (48.306) and Toyota's fastest car was the No.44 of Dale Jarrett (48.698). Testing will continue on Wednesday, though Dale Earnhardt's car will be tested by brother Kerry Earnhardt. Also missing from the first of two three-day test sessions are Tony Stewart (competing at the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa, OK) and Robby Gordon (running in the Dakar Rally). The Daytona 500 is scheduled for Sunday, February 18th. Jimmie Johnson is both the defending "500" champion and the Nextel Cup Series winner. "It's time to look forward to 2007," said Johnson. "We'll fall back on the confidence of 2006, but we have a whole new set of circumstances to deal with and a whole new year to worry about."
