Cornelius, NC (Best E Casino) - According to a published report, Matt Borland is being "courted" by a number of teams, including Michael Waltrip Racing.

Borland, the crew chief for Ryan Newman and the No.12 Penske Racing Dodge until the final two races of 2006, was thought to be staying at Penske in a role overseeing the competition department.

Now, according to scenedaily.com, it appears that he might accept a position outside the organization. MWR is said to have made Borland a "substantial" offer.

Newman and Borland made 186 starts as a team combining for 12 wins, 83 top-10s and 37 poles.
