(Best E Casino) - The Northeast Division-leading Buffalo Sabres should be well-rested tonight when they welcome the Florida Panthers to HSBC Arena.

The Sabres haven't played since Sunday evening when they posted a close win at Madison Square Garden. Daniel Briere scored two goals, including the game- winner with 1:03 left in overtime, as Buffalo came-from-behind to beat the New York Rangers, 4-3.

Jason Pominville's ninth goal of the season in the third period tied the game for the Sabres, who rebounded from their first regulation loss on Saturday to Toronto.

Goaltender Martin Biron started in place of Ryan Miller and finished with 26 saves. The win improved Buffalo to 8-0-0 as the visitor this year and gave the Sabres the NHL record for most consecutive road victories to a start a season.

Buffalo is 12-1-1 on the year and leads the Northeast Division by two points over Toronto.

The Panthers, meanwhile, are in last place in the Southeast Division. They played on Wednesday evening against the visiting New York Rangers and were handed a shootout loss. Martin Straka scored a pair of goals in regulation and Michael Nylander lit the lamp in the shootout, as New York edged Florida, 4-3, at the BankAtlantic Center.

Ruslan Salei scored his first goal as a Panther and Nathan Horton had a goal and an assist for Florida, which has dropped four of five. Ed Belfour made 27 saves in defeat.

Tonight marks the first of two straight on the road for the Panthers, who are just 1-5-2 as the visiting team this year. Florida will also play at New Jersey on Saturday.

This is the first meeting of the season between the Panthers and Sabres. Florida won three of four matchups in 2005-06, but is just 1-3-1 in its last five games in Buffalo.
