Winnipeg, MB (Best E Casino) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Wednesday acquired safety Mike Crumb from the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for quarterback Spergon Wynn.
The Blue Bombers also received Toronto's second round pick in the 2006 draft.
Crumb helped anchor the Argonauts special teams unit last season, recording seven special teams tackles. He also tallied one defensive tackle and eight hits.
"Upgrading our defensive secondary and special teams units was a priority going into this off-season and we believe this deal addresses that issue," said Bombers general manager Brendan Taman.
Wynn spent only one season with Winnipeg after being acquired by the club from the B.C. Lions in April of 2005. However, he dressed for only three regular season games due to injury.
Wynn does have NFL experience, having spent time with the Cleveland Browns in 2000 and the Minnesota Vikings from 2001-02.
The Bombers also announced they have declined to pick up an option on linebacker Lamar McGriggs.
