Malik, a veteran of 649 NHL games, joins Tampa's young defensive corps after stints with Hartford/Carolina, Vancouver and the New York Rangers. This also marked the first victory for new Tampa head coach Barry Melrose. Mark Recchi and Vinny Prospal also scored for Tampa Bay, which began the season with a five-game winless skid (0-2-3) -- all the setbacks were by one goal. | Tampa, FL (Best E Casino) - The Tampa Bay Lightning claimed forward Matt Pettinger off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. Pettinger had been with the Canucks' AHL club in Manitoba this season, but posted four goals and six points in 20 games with Vancouver last season after coming over from Washington in a late February trade. The Edmonton native, who will turn 28 on Wednesday, has collected 56 goals and 105 points in 354 games over seven NHL seasons with the Capitals and Canucks. |

Miettinen was the second shooter for Minnesota and he deked to the backhand to beat Mike Smith high for the lead.
