SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -Ted Tollner rejoined the San Francisco 49ers as an assistant coach Tuesday in an effort to spark the club's miserable offense. Tollner, the former USC and San Diego State coach, also is a longtime NFL assistant who served on the 49ers' coaching staff from 2002-04, with two years as quarterbacks coach and one season as offensive coordinator. He was the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator for part of the 2005 season. ``Ted has great experience with over 30 years in the NFL and in college |

| Quarterback is a tough position to play in the NFL. Signal- callers sometimes get the glory when the team does well, but also the brunt of the backlash when a team does poor. That can be tough on a young quarterback. So, it was no surprise when the San Francisco 49ers went with veteran Trent Dilfer this past Sunday over youngster Alex Smith, who has been struggling this year and is also battling a shoulder ailment. However, even going to the 35-year-old Dilfer couldn't help the 49ers halt their lengthy losing str |

The Cardinals schedule the rest of the way is far from difficult, meaning a postseason berth and possibly a divisional title is not out of the question. Arizona hosts the horrid San Francisco 49ers and the high-flying but defensively-challenged Cleveland Browns over the next two weeks. The Cards then travel to Seattle for a potentially huge clash with the Seahawks, then head to New Orleans to battle the Saints. The club then wraps up with anot |

| (Best E Casino) - Don't look now, but the St. Louis Rams are on a winning streak. After beginning the season 0-8, the Rams have won two straight games after topping the San Francisco 49ers, 13-9, on Sunday. However, the win wasn't a pretty one. A week after exploding for over 400 yards of offense in a victory over New Orleans, St. Louis struggled in its triumph over the lifeless 49ers. St. Louis managed just 207 net yards of offense, including only 105 through the air. Yet that was enough to get to 2-8 and a tie |

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -Mike Nolan thinks everything that's wrong with the San Francisco 49ers must be fixed by the people already in their training complex. And the coach doesn't plan to expel any coaches from that complex, either. A day after the 49ers' offense floundered yet again in a 13-9 loss to St. Louis, Nolan said he plans to make no changes to his coaching staff or roster in the wake of eight consecutive defeats. He will stick with the course he set out during training camp, when the 49ers (2-8) |

However, they also knew their dad's tough-guy side, the persona that helped him succeed as a safety for the New York Giants on the 1956 championship team and later as a division-winning head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. His son Mike, who now coaches the 49ers, was focusing on his father's tenderness during a memorial service Saturday when he became overwhelmed by emotion. | Santa Clara, CA (Best E Casino) - The San Francisco 49ers took another hit to their already ailing quarterbacks Friday, as it was learned that third- string QB Shaun Hill broke a finger on his throwing hand, and will likely miss at least two weeks. Hill suffered the injury during Thursday's practice, when he banged his hand on a teammate's helmet. A Maryland product, Hill has played very sparingly over his six seasons -- four with the Vikings, the last two with the Niners -- and has yet to attempt a pass. The 49 |
