Officer won't face charges in shooting of Chargers linebacker NFL Football 12/14/2007

SAN DIEGO (AP) -A police officer won't face criminal charges for shooting and wounding former San Diego Chargers linebacker Steve Foley during a late-night confrontation in September 2006.

San Diego District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis said Friday that Officer Aaron Mansker acted in self-defense.

Mansker was off duty, out of uniform and driving his own car on Sept. 3, 2006, when he tailed Foley to his suburban home on suspicion that the football player was driving drunk.

Bolts, Lions, Cast in Opposing Roles NFL Football 12/14/2007
(Best E Casino) - The San Diego Chargers, winners of three consecutive games, look to have finally found themselves. The Detroit Lions, who will visit Qualcomm Stadium to meet San Diego on Sunday, have likely begun to wonder whether they will ever arrive. San Diego has played its most consistent football of the season over the past few weeks, with a home blowout of the Ravens (32-14) preceding important back- to-back road wins versus the Chiefs and Titans (23-17). Last week, the Chargers dug themselves out of a

The Titans held a 17-3 fourth-quarter lead on the visiting San Diego Chargers, and looked to be well on their way to maintaining their standing near the top of the AFC Wild Card race. But Jeff Fisher's club imploded, allowing San Diego to put together its first two touchdown drives of the day to tie the contest at 17-17. Pred

. (AP) -Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth could play Sunday at Kansas City even though he missed practice for a third consecutive day Friday.

Haynesworth, who has a sore right hamstring, did not practice last week, but started against the San Diego Chargers in Tennessee's 23-17 overtime loss.

``We'll warm him up before the game and see how he is,'' coach Jeff Fisher said. ``He's managing. He'll have setbacks after the ballgame, but each week he's having less of a setback.''

Bolts need to keep winning to clinch another AFC West title NFL Football 12/13/2007

SAN DIEGO (AP) -The San Diego Chargers' task is simple. Keep winning and they'll be AFC West champions for the second straight year and third time in four seasons.

Their final three games, starting at home Sunday against the fading Detroit Lions, stack up rather nicely. They don't have to leave California and their opponents are mediocre, at best.

enn. (AP) -Tennessee defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth missed a second consecutive day of practice Thursday as he rested his sore right hamstring.

Haynesworth did not practice all last week, but played in last Sunday's 23-17 overtime loss to the San Diego Chargers. There's a possibility he could follow the same scenario this week.

``He did not practice today, but I think he's getting better,'' coach Jeff Fisher said. ``We have not ruled him out for the game. I think he's better at this time this week than h

Rivers among several Chargers sitting out practice NFL Football 12/12/2007

SAN DIEGO (AP) -A star cast of San Diego Chargers missed practice Wednesday because of injuries, including quarterback Philip Rivers.

While Rivers didn't take any snaps because of his sprained left knee, he was still involved.

``He coached a lot. He's trying to get me straightened out,'' coach Norv Turner joked.

Did it help?

``No,'' Turner deadpanned.

Turner said Rivers should be able to practice on Thursday, which would give the Chargers (8-5) a better idea whether he'll be able to play in Sunday's
