Johnson, the Oakland Raiders' second-round pick in the 2003 NFL draft, was attempting a comeback after not playing since his release by Arizona during the 2005 season. The Bills had signed Johnson in January.

Rauch came to the Raiders, then in the American Football League, as a coach in 1963 and assumed the head coach position for Al Davis prior to the 1966 season. He remained at the helm until 1968, going 33-8-1 in 42 regular-season games. ATLANTA (AP) -John Rauch, the former Georgia quarterback who coached the Oakland Raiders to a berth in the second Super Bowl, died Tuesday at his home in Oldsmar, Fla. He was 80.

Rauch's wife, Jane, said Rauch died in his sleep, possibly due to a heart problem.

Rauch was 33-8-1 in three season as the Raiders coach from 1966-68. He also served as head coach of the Buffalo Bills for two years and was an assistant coach with Philadelphia and Atlanta.
