EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -The newest Minnesota Vikings quarterback shouldn't take long to figure out coach Brad Childress' offense. The Vikings signed Koy Detmer on Tuesday to serve as an insurance policy for a banged-up group of quarterbacks. Detmer, in his 10th season in the league, was on the Eagles roster for all seven of Childress' years in Philadelphia. Childress worked with Detmer first as quarterbacks coach and then as offensive coordinator. Minnesota starter Tarvaris Jackson had a concussion on |

| (Best E Casino) - The Minnesota Vikings aren't a very good football team, but they have found a winning formula -- hand the ball to Adrian Peterson and hope the star rookie rushes for 200 yards. Don't snicker...Peterson is more than capable of doing it against just about anyone. In the 46-year history of the Minnesota Vikings, exactly one player ran for 200 yards before Peterson arrived -- the master of the spin move, Chuck Foreman, tallied 200 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles on October 24, 1976. SAN DIEGO (AP) -Embarrassed. Disappointed. Discouraged. Pick a word, any word. They all describe how some San Diego Chargers felt a day after they were blown out 35-17 by the Minnesota Vikings behind rookie Adrian Peterson's NFL single-game rushing record of 296 yards. All-Pro outside linebacker Shawne Merriman went a step beyond. ``We got our butt kicked. Point blank,'' Merriman said Monday. After dropping to 4-4 at the season's midpoint, the Chargers are trying to explain yet again why they couldn't |

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -As if things haven't been tough enough for the Minnesota Vikings' secondary this season, they may have to play Sunday against San Diego without their best cornerback. Antoine Winfield was listed as questionable because of a hamstring injury that first flared up against Philadelphia last week and was tweaked during practice this week. Winfield did not practice on Thursday or Friday, but coach Brad Childress was holding out hope that he will be in the lineup against the Chargers. ` |

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has already thrown 30 touchdown passes through the first eight games, sending Indianapolis' Peyton Manning's NFL mark of 49 set three years ago in serious jeopardy.
