ATLANTA (AP) -Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning tore the patellar tendon in his right knee in a collision with Atlanta's Mario West in the first quarter on Wednesday night. With Mourning laying on his back clutching his knee, a stretcher was brought to his side. Mourning was placed on the stretcher and then sat up, rose to his feet and limped to the Miami bench with the assistance of teammates. Typically, injuries to that tendon take around 3 months to heal.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Pres |

MIAMI (AP) -Shaquille O'Neal sees this as just another test. His 14.3 points-per-game average is, by far, the lowest of his career. His Miami Heat are 7-17, one of the worst records in the NBA, and look nothing like the team that won a championship 18 months ago. His leg hurts, his pride aches and he knows that, at 35 years old, many believe he's finished. Not surprisingly, O'Neal, a four-time NBA champion, begs to differ. He still believes in the Heat and, perhaps most importantly, he still beli |

The Nets are 5-9 at home this season. They will visit the Miami Heat on Thursday at AmericanAirlines Arena. On the injury front for New Jersey, guard Marcus Williams (right foot surgery) could make his season debut. Williams, who is playing in his second season in the NBA, is questionable for tonight's contest. |

MIAMI (AP) -Antoine Walker still speaks to a couple former Miami Heat teammates, and he's not enjoying seeing the Heat get off to a slow start. There is, however, one piece of consolation for the injured Minnesota forward. ``I wasn't the problem,'' Walker said. Walker returned Monday night to his former home court in Miami for the first time as a visitor since he was sent to the Timberwolves in October as part of the deal that brought Ricky Davis and Mark Blount to South Florida.
