| === Minnesota Twins Team Report - September 3 === (Best E Casino) - Johan Santana continues his push for the American League Cy Young Award tonight, as he takes the mound for the Minnesota Twins in the opener three-game series against the visiting Kansas City Royals. Santana leads the American League in strikeouts (213), is second in ERA (3.06) and is tied for second in victories (15). The 25-year-old lefthander has won seven straight starts and just complete an unbelievable month of August. Santana was 6-0 with a sparkling 2.07 ERA in six starts last month. His most recent win came on Saturday in Anaheim after yielding just one run and four hits in seven innings. Santana has 19 career games (eight starts) against the Royals and is 5-3 with a 4.35 ERA in those outings. The Twins posted a 2-0 victory over the Texas Rangers on Thursday to complete a three-game sweep at the Metrodome. Brad Radke fanned nine over eight scoreless innings as he and Joe Nathan combined on the five-hit shutout. Radke (10-7) gave up just five hits and a walk while fanning a season-high nine for the victory. Nathan fanned two in an inning of work for his 37th save of the season. The Twins have won four of five and are now a solid nine games in front of Cleveland for the American League Central lead. |
