Delhomme throws touchdown pass in scrimmage Headlines 08/07/2010

CLEVELAND (AP) -Jake Delhomme threw a touchdown pass in his first appearance for his new team at Cleveland Browns Stadium and cornerback Brandon McDonald returned an interception for another score as the Brown team beat the White team, 14-6 Saturday in an intrasquad scrimmage.

Delhomme, slated to be Cleveland's starting quarterback, threw a 5-yard scoring pass to tight end Ben Watson in the fourth quarter for the Brown team. He completed 10-of-15 passes for 78 yards and no interceptions.

y contract issue with a new six-year deal in mid-July, Suggs promptly hurt his toe in an early training camp practice and hobbled through the offseason.

He recovered in time to start the opener, but a questionable chop block to the right knee from Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn forced him to miss three games. Suggs finished with a career-low 4 1/2 sacks and entered the offseason determined to bounce back in 2010.

team to another, whatever it is. I love the game and I have a true passion for the game and any opportunity that I have to play, I'm going to come out and play.''

The 2001 draft was a strong one for defensive linemen. Warren was taken third by the Cleveland Browns, Seymour went sixth to the Patriots and Lewis was picked 12th by the St. Louis Rams. Seymour has had the most successful career, but the other two bring veteran savvy to a young defense.

Dependable Thomas looks to grab leadership role NFL Football 08/06/2010

CLEVELAND (AP) -Joe Thomas is one of the few people the Cleveland Browns have been able to depend on.

Entering his fourth NFL season, Thomas has started all 48 games the team has played since Cleveland selected the offensive left tackle with the third pick in the 2007 draft.

Thomas, who has yet to miss an offensive snap, has been a rock of consistency for a team that has been plagued by losing and turmoil. Thomas was one of the Browns captains in 2009 and looks to assume even more of a leadership role th

Goodell undecided on possible Browns suspensions NFL Football 08/05/2010

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Shaun Rogers and Robaire Smith of the Cleveland Browns remain in limbo with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Goodell skirted the issue regarding suspensions to the two players on Thursday, but emphatically proclaimed that he wants a change to the way rookie salaries are handled.

Goodell spoke with fans, coaches and players during a visit to the Browns' training camp. He addressed negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement, rules to improve player safety, and said he is reviewi

switched them to the 3-4. Growing pains were obvious.

``A lot of it was technique,'' said defensive end Tyson Jackson, the third overall selection in the 2009 draft.

While the players remained the same, that cannot be said of the coaches. Former Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel was brought in as defensive coordinator and Tim Krumrie was replaced as defensive line coach by Anthony Pleasant, a 15-year veteran. Crennel's specialty is the defensive line and he's been giving that element extra attention

Despite huge finish, Harrison must prove self NFL Football 08/02/2010

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -So Jerome Harrison leads the Cleveland Browns to wins in their final four games last year, breaking rushing records held by the iconic Jim Brown while gaining 286 yards in one game.

And what does he get when he returns to preseason camp? He's faced with doubts, cynics, and a battle for his starting job.

In the offseason, the Browns drafted a running back and also traded for one.

In just seven starts last season, Harrison had 862 yards on 194 carries and scored five touchdowns. He was

Haden on hand for first practice with Browns Headlines 08/01/2010

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Joe Haden signed his name on the dotted line and then a day later took the field for the Cleveland Browns for the first time.

The first-round draft pick, taken seventh overall, worked out at cornerback as the Browns went through their second day of camp on Sunday in high heat and humidity before around 3,000 fans at their practice facility.

The former Florida defensive back held out until signing a five-year deal on Saturday worth $50 million, with $26 million guaranteed. He passed a co

Delhomme finds new home in Cleveland NFL Football 08/01/2010

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Jake Delhomme has already been anointed the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns.

But that doesn't mean there isn't a stadium full of questions surrounding him.

Coming off a miserable season in Carolina where he encountered what one publication delicately called ``a 13-month turnover problem,'' the former Pro Bowler knows that at the age of 35 he has to prove all over again that he can lead an NFL offense.

Delhomme had 18 interceptions a year ago compared to only eight touchdo

Browns agree to terms with Haden NFL Football 07/31/2010
Cleveland, OH (Best E Casino) - The Cleveland Browns have signed cornerback Joe Haden, the seventh overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, to a multi-year contract. No terms of the contract were released, but according to a report earlier in the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, it is a five-year deal worth $50 million, including a guaranteed $26 million. Haden recorded 68 tackles, three sacks and four interceptions in 14 games for the Florida Gators last season and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given each year
